This loop is a mixture of climbs on Forest Service Roads with descents on fun singletrack. The Bear Mountain Trail was actually built by the Forest Service for mountain biking.

To the Trailhead: From Winthrop head east on Highway 20 through Twisp. At the junction with State Route 153, turn left to follow Highway 20 towards Okanogan. After about 3 miles, turn left onto Beaver Creek Road. Continue following this road past the Beaver Creek Campground and the intersection with Forest Service Road #4225. Turn right on road #4225 and follow it for 1.6 miles to the Middle Fork of Beaver Creek. Park at the pullouts.

The Ride: From the parking area climb up road #4225 until it's intersection with road #200. Turn right onto road #200 and continue climbing until a hairpin with a spur road heading away from it. Look to the lower side of the hairpin for the beginning of the Bear Mountain Trail. Head down to the trail and follow it to its end at road #4225. Turn right and head uphill on road #4225 until its intersection with road #4230. Turn left on road #4230 and follow it until you cross the Middle Fork of Beaver Creek. After crossing the creek, look downhill for the Middle Fork Beaver Creek Trail. Turn onto the trail and follow it back to the start of the ride.
